SNUCK FARMYARD ASSISTANT

DESCRIPTION

The Farmyard Assistant at Snuck Farm ensures the farm is well maintained, and running smoothly. He/She is a key player in the maintenance and care of the properties and is responsible for furthering the mission of the farm.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall, this position is 80% landscape maintenance, 20% projects, and animal care.
Oversee maintenance on farm grounds and home properties.
Work to maintain the natural environment using organic and sustainable methods.
Plant and maintain the seasonal landscape and garden with a focus on creativity, and beauty.
Weeding, mowing, pruning, etc.
Install, adjust, and maintain all irrigation systems on the farm.
Assist with farm animal care: feeding and cleaning.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Ability to create a fun, positive work environment.
Knowledge of vegetable and flower farming operations. Home gardening experience along with hydroponic and organic farming experience preferred.
Strong organizational, technical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Healthy and energetic with stamina for long days in a physical job environment, including spending much of the day on your feet.
Experience and/or ability to operate farm equipment. (skid steer, forklift, trailers, etc.)

HOURS
30-40 hours per week during the summer season, with the possibility of continuing longer term.
Some holiday and weekend work is required depending on the calendar and farm activities.

SNUCK KITCHEN ASSISTANT

DESCRIPTION

Our small but mighty team at Snuck is looking for an assistant for our head of kitchen. We need someone who is ready and willing to roll up their sleeves, get to work and have fun working in our thriving small business. This is a fast-paced, bustling farm environment; everyone is expected to go above and beyond, no matter the task. We are looking for someone who is passionate about all aspects of a kitchen including cooking, preparing food, packaging, and cleaning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complies with and strictly upholds all food health and safety regulations, including requirements for food preparation areas and food safety plans
  • Will help supervise and complete the food prep and cooking
  • Maintains an inventory of materials needed for food preparations, packaging, labeling, and presentation
  • Will assist our kitchen staff and guide them to deliver quality food on time
  • Will perform other miscellaneous tasks required by the kitchen manager
  • Will train for other farm tasks as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year experience in kitchen, commercial or otherwise (Certification from a culinary school or degree in restaurant management is a plus.)
  • Food Handler’s Permit
  • The ability to stand for extended periods & work in a fast-paced environment
  • Manual dexterity and ability to operate cutting tools and other kitchen equipment
  • Keep the kitchen area tidy and clean, using the ‘clean as you go’ approach to be more effective and efficient
  • Experience with recipe management
  • Ability to lift 30+ pounds
  • Driver’s license and ability to commute to work
  • Compensation starts at $14/hr and increases based on experience

Hours and Days:
Part-Time
Tuesday - Saturday, mornings
Up to 25 hours per week
